Everyone is talking about all these resolutions that I'm pretty sure they'll forget about withing the next month max. I like hearing what people have planned for themselves in the new year because it shows that they have hope for a better future. If I could be completely honest, I really don't see the point of having "New Year's resolutions" because personally, it feels like another day. Call me a humbug all you want, but that doesn't mean that I'm not grateful for everything that I have in my life.

Now, you're probably wondering why I'm even starting the new year bickering about the new year and resolutions. It started when my husband and I were goofing off in my sister's kitchen while everyone else was watching Univision and Dominican television channels(the Dominican Republic is currently an hour ahead of the eastern time zone due to daylight savings). My husband asked me what were my resolutions, to which I answered none. When he asked why, I told him that I simply can't commit to resolutions because I feel like they aren't all that important to me.

After the ball drops at midnight, I would be going to bed and going about my life the next day like any normal day. The only thing that I get out New Year's Eve and New Year's Day is that I'm with people that I love and care about. One of my sister's kept telling me to put a smile on my face and that I should be happy. I was genuinely happy, but like I said, it just felt like another day.

As I grow older, I feel like the only thing that matters about the holidays is that I'm with my family and that I don't really have to think about resolutions because I'm pretty content with how things are going. Life does have it's ups and downs, but I've gotten by pretty well if you ask me. The small things like tormenting my family with my shenanigans, FaceTiming my friends and telling them how much I miss hanging out with them, or even telling my husband "I love you" and hearing him say it back are the best things I could get out if this new year. It made me happy the previous year, and I didn't even have to make up any resolutions to achieve them.

So maybe I might be a humbug, but you tell me. I'm leaving this blog post open for discussion so that you, the reader, can tell me what you think. What are your resolutions? Do you think that you'll commit to them? Is it wrong for me to feel this way?

Feel free to comment below, shoot me an email on my contact page, or even share on social media using #NessibooNewYear. I'll be on my phone and computer all the time.

Aside from this rant, I wish you all a Happy New Year, filled with love, joy, and good vibes.
