Anyone Else Getting Really Tired of COVID-19?

Updated: Sep 2, 2020

After receiving an email that my school is closing for the rest of the semester and receiving a call from my manager that the mall where our store is located will be closing, I feel as if I have lost all hope. I have not been outside since Sunday, which was when I clocked out of work, hoping to come back later in the week. Cabin Fever is finally setting in because when I say I feel like Homer Simpson in this first GIF presented, I mean it.

Don't get me wrong, I do love being home more. The thing I miss most about work and school is that I had so much more freedom than I ever expected. That doesn't mean that I've been enslaved by my family. I just wish that I could go outside and not be scared that I will burst into flames the minute my foot touches the outside ground.

While we are on the subject of fear, can I just say that people are acting like paranoid holes that don't ever see sunlight and it makes me very angry that this is what society has come to. I more afraid of going outside and encountering some jerk in a supermarket or Walmart overstocking than actually contracting the coronavirus. The whole over-stocking is a dick move on so many levels. Does Nancy really need 50 packs of toilet paper and 12 gallons of milk that's going to expire next week? Does Juan really need to wipe his butt with baby wipes and douse himself with nearly 80 bottles of handsanitizer? Most importantly do the newlywed Johnson couple really need to stock up on beer, wine, and tequila?

Fear is going to kill the human race before the coronavirus actually does if we keep behaving like this and overspending our money on all of these necessities. What breaks my heart even more is that when people finally realize that they overspent and are now broke, they cannot return the bulks of food, water, sanitizer, and other items because companies fear that all these things came in contact with the virus and they will not risk restocking returned good. People need to be more sane and responsible. A situation like this needs to be handled better and not like a chicken running around with its head cut off. If you finally came to your senses and feel guilty about overbuying, give a pack of toilet paper away to someone in need. Do not attempt to resell this things because it is illegal and I have the number for the Department of Consumer Goods on speed dial; I will be the Karen that calls to report you without hesitation.

As for quarantine and isolation, I am well over that ish too. I feel so depressed being inside four walls 24 hours a day and I'm pretty sure everyone else feels the same way too. People need to learn how to be more clean; cover your mouth with your elbow when you cough or sneeze, wash your hands for 20 seconds after using the bathroom or before you eat, please shower your whole body and not just the upper half, KEEP HAND SANITIZER WITH YOU AT ALL TIMES! These are things that shouldn't have to be repeated on a daily basis. Why do people have to be so dirty? The reason why this shutdown was extended until July or August is because people can't seem to listen the first time when they are told to be clean. My birthday is in June and I am not trying to be quarantined during my Jordan year when I can be on a beach getting crisp or at a bar chugging down margaritas like water (NessiBoo does not condone irresponsible consumption of alcohol).

Overall, I am tired of the news continuously covering the virus like a daily telenovela. We need to be more considerate while shopping, with our hygiene(again, this should not have to be repeated), and practice social distancing by being six feet apart from other people. I strongly believe that we can beat this pandemic if we put in more effort to do better. Again, please be responsible and not stupid. Practice good hygiene. If you feel sick, please seek medical attention. Most importantly, don't overstock on household necessities.
